How to help

Kids can make a difference!

WE ARE NO LONGER SELLING HATS AND NO LONGER ACCEPTING DONATIONS. Rather than deleting this page, we are leaving it up, hoping to provide inspiration and a template for kids who want to help others. Feel free to look through the site, and keep fighting hunger any way you can!

Are you a knitter, sewer, felter, crafter?  Want to help fight hunger one hat at a time?  We love to sell any and all donated hats (knit, crochet, fleece, felted, sewn, etc.) and 100% of profits help fight hunger.  Please label hats with approximate size, materials/fiber content, your name and home state.

We also LOVE yarn donations–we’ll knit up just about anything!  If you are a yarn manufacturer or yarn store, please include your website so we can recognize you on our “Sponsors” page.

Please mail hats and/or yarn to:

Hi from Sydney Australia

I would love to knit some beanies for you. It is getting cold here now, but I know it is getting warmer over there.

Would you like me to send them when they are completed, or wait until it gets cold again over there?

Love your work!
Erika

Thanks Erika! Since you are so far away, you might want to consider selling the hats locally and donating the money to Hats for Hunger. That would save a lot of money and resources on shipping. There is a wonderful yarn store in Wyoming that does exactly that. Of course, we are always happy to receive any and all hats, so feel free to send at your convenience. We’d rather receive them during our summer so we can get all of the administrative work done before the selling season really gets going again.

Thank you so much for your interest in Hats for Hunger and for helping to fight hunger one hat at a time.

If you would like more info or ideas, feel free to email us at info@hatsforhunger.com

I have some hats I made for another charity and found out it was a fraud…so I will try again :o)
I will send some as soon as I get some tags made.
I applaude you for your commitment. Your story sounds familiar…have I seen you on TV? :o)

Thank you Beverly! As far as we know, we haven’t been on TV :-). You don’t need to make fancy tags—the fiber content is all that we really need. We have cute H4H tags that we put on all of the hats after photographing. Thank you for helping to fight hunger one hat at a time (and sorry your last attempt with a charity was a fraud–yuck!).

I’d love to donate some hats. I love to knit and right now I’m knitting hats and scarves for the homeless here in Washington state…can add a few more hats to send your way!

Just curious, if you do anything with kniitted items other than hats, I’m guessing not, but doesn’t hurt to ask.

We have had several scarves donated and we plan to sell them with the hats. Thanks for asking!
